Weekend Copywriting Workshop

Course overview
The Radio Copywriting Workshop will give you the tools you need to write great radio commercials. It will help you talk the talk and walk the walk when applying for a copywriting job in Australian radio stations.

So... Why would you want to work as a radio copywriter?

Commercial radio stations need to make money.
The most common way to make that money is by selling airtime, and the most common way to fill that airtime is with a radio commercial.

So who writes the commercials that make the money that keeps the stations running?

Radio copywriters.

Producing powerful radio campaigns is what keeps clients coming back.
The core of any great campaign is a great radio commercial, and a great commercial starts with great copy.

Radio copywriting is a difficult discipline to master. You can't hide in pictures. You can't use 500 words to tell a 50 word story. To be a successful copywriter, you have to understand your audience, your product and how to get the two dancing together in just 30 seconds.

This day and a half workshop will teach you how to write engaging, effective radio copy.
Copy that works.

Over a day and a half of hands on training, you'll learn -

  • How to decipher a radio brief
  • The basic structure of a radio script
  • How to create simple call to action commercials
  • How to create branding commercials
  • How to build longer term campaigns
  • How to use conversation in radio commercials
  • You'll learn how to develop the timing of effective radio copy
  • How to consistently generate ideas for radio campaigns
  • How to measure the effectiveness of your scripts
  • How to sell your script idea to a client

The Radio Copywriting Workshop is all about writing radio campaigns, so you'll have the opportunity to write and dissect multiple scripts across the course.

You'll finish with a body of work to add to your resume, a series of tools and techniques to consistently write effective radio copy, and an understanding of what a Creative Director or Station Manager is looking for in a station copywriter.

Fee structure
$550.00 (plus GST) paid in full upfront before commencement of course. Total $605

Fees may be paid by cash, cheque or credit card (Master Card/Visa/Bank Card) or money order. Cheques made payable to Australian Radio School. A payment structure to suit your budget can be arranged. Please enquire.
